The Guardian: How consumers can track products at the touch of a smartphone button

Producers and suppliers trace and count every item they distribute. It's time to share that information with everyone.

A European project, RFID from Farm to Fork, implemented several traceability systems in between 2010 to 2012 in the UK, Spain, Italy and Slovenia. Four food sectors took part: meat, cheese, fish and wine.
